Finally planning on installing the new flexplate in my rig. 85 f250 with a 302/c6/np20&.

I've done a bunch of reading of old threads and found a few tips but I wanna tap into the experience here to see if there's any tricks to make it easier on myself. My plan is undo the trans and Tcase linkage, drop the shafts, unbolt the crossmember from the frame and when I finally unbolt the bell housing, using the ears of the crossmember to slide the trans/tcase back enough to get tools in to change the flexplate out. I've also heard of people using some long pieces of all-thread into the back of the block to hold the trans up, which I wanna try. I'm working by myself for the most part and I want to avoid totally dropping the trans. Anything I'm missing? I've never owned an 85' but all the other years I've had I have not been lucky enough to get the transmission to slide back far enough and still get my hands in there to replace parts. I'm sure you've thought about it, but buy a rear main seal to have ready if yours leaks.
