So, after reading all the issues with water ingress on Swift built M/Homes, What 2nd hand/used, 7mts long, French bed motorhomes are there out in the big wide world that don't have a history of water ingress, surely there must be one somewhere? My Ace 680fb has water on both sides of the lower floor, at the rear, it's worst around the pipes from the shower tray area, poor sealing again? We usually only hear about the bad ones, not the many good ones. Yes, there are damp MH's out there but that can happen with any make.

It can be due to manufacture, or possibly an owner doing something he/she shouldn't. German built MH's have a good reputation but that is no guarantee they are all perfect. Notwithstanding the various stories that do seem to emanate around the Swift brand, our Bolero 680FB (bought before I was, possibly, as savvy as I am know ) has turned out to be terrific for us. Cisco Precisionhd Camera Mac Driver. We bought it on layout, mainly, and this ticks all the boxes except one.that is we would like to put our bikes in a garage and our next van will probably reflect this aim. Another possible issue might have been payload but we seem to be well within our max when in 'race trim'.

The Fiat bits have been great, judder all resolved prior to our 2010 model arriving and it is easy to drive and is pretty economical. On the conversion side we have had a couple of issues but these have been with 3rd party supplied units: the Teuma Combi started to leak from a faulty welded seam and the fridge freezer needed a new PSU. Both items were completely replaced without question by our excellent service team. The van is serviced annually and hab checks performed and we have no concerns re damp. We have done 20k miles in 3 years and finding a replacement, if we can really part with it, will be tricky. I have a small number of vans in mind (mainly Comtinental due to a dearth of this design in British stables). The question of whether I would buy another Swift wont be answered as there is no suitable garage model in their range.

However, a garage version (transverse or twin singles) in the Bolero range would make it onto my list. Posted: 13 October 2013 11:06 AM Subject: RE: Question re water/damp problems. Location: East Sussex. Motorhome: Knaus Boxstar 600 Street. It is a matter of risk. I doubt there is a single maker that has never produced a van that leaked. But, some seem more prone than others.

Some deal better with problems that others. Most of the Hymer group products seem fairly sound, as do most of the Rapido group. Autotrail and Autosleepers also seem better than average, but much depends also on the support you get from your dealer.

So, a good dealer with a brand that has a good reputation for problem avoidance, and for problem resolution when necessary, will be the least risky route. Final thought: most of the Hymer group products are supported by excellent customer support facilities at the factory if all else fails. I believe Autotrail and Autosleepers also offer this service. I have no direct experience in either case.

Wise words from one foot, and here's the irony - My first ever van [in 1993] was an ancient Autohomes on a Bedford CF circa '75, had a GRP roof that enveloped the sides - no issues. Forward 18 months to another CF Autohome circa '82 and back to the old technology - still in use today in some cases - lots of roof seams. Result leaked like you wouldn't believe.
